Team Mowbray Update #57
Friday 13th!!!!! (April, 2007)
Well here I am ... sitting in the office at Belmont typing away on this computer with the wonder and enchantment of South America seeming so far away ... after having not read a newspaper for 6 months, nor watched television or had a shower with evenly regulated water flow (let alone a hot one) for that long I am now cast firmly back into the thick of so called "normal life" ... but not for long!!!!
I arrived back in Australia 10 days ago and have been catching up with the affairs of the ever diminishing "Mowbray empire" (not that there ever was an empire). In scanning the office I find that my asset base seems to consist predominately of 2 pencils (one of which is a broken stub) and half a box of self adhesive envelopes that no longer live up to their name!
Ya gotta laugh haven't ya?
Anyhow, "Commitment" is securely berthed in Puerto Montt and since my return to "Aussie" shores I have been catching up with a lot of friends and trying to adjust after so long out of "the system". We have also been working hard on the new expedition program for the boat for the summer of 2007/08. We are adding some exciting new components and when it is all finalised, you'll be the first to know!!!
In the meantime ... this morning I received a telephone call from one of the many new friends we made whilst in South America telling me that the first fall of snow down to sea level has occurred in Puerto Williams for this approaching winter ...
He also tells me that he has 2 job vacancies and has asked if I could help him out by perhaps finding someone from within the readership of the Team Mowbray update list ... so here we go.
You may not be appropriately experienced for the vacancies but if you do know of someone who might be then please pass this information onto them.

SITUATION VACANT - TWO PROFFESSIONAL SKIPPERS WANTED
October 2007 to March 2008 is the busy yacht expedition charter season in South America and the Antarctic Peninsula.
2 full-time professional skippers are required to take total responsibility for 2 yachts.
The boats are 50 feet (up to 5 charter customers) and 75 feet long (up to 8 charter customers)
The areas that the yachts operate in are generally (but not limited to) Cape Horn, the Patagonian canals including Ushuaia, Puerto Williams, Punta Arenas and the Antarctic Peninsula.
Paper qualifications are not as important as the following ...
- Must be an accomplished skipper and navigator with significant sea miles
- Must be an accomplished communicator
- Must have excellent people skills and be able to take total responsibly for expedition members individually and as a group to ensure that they receive "the adventure of a lifetime"
- It is desirable but not essential that the successful skippers have previous knowledge of the area
- It is desirable but not essential that the successful skippers can speak Spanish
For the right person this is a golden opportunity ...
If you feel you are suited to the above and have an interest in one of the spots please email me with your details ... tony@tonymowbray.com.au

Well there you go ... now we are a recruitment agency!!!
How are we doing?
Pretty good I'd say!
Have fun,
