Experience the unsurpassed beauty of the incomparable Chilean Fjords whilst we discover the hidden inlets and coves inaccessible to large ships.

Sail to the edge of the precipice known as 'The Horn' ... perhaps set foot ashore on this fabled lump of rock at the 'end of the world'.

Have you ever said to yourself, when idly flicking through a coffee table book or watching a documentary, "One day I would really like to go see Antarctica"? Well, the "one days" are slipping by ever so quickly ... we are all running out of one days and the best advice we can give you regarding Antarctica, if you harbour a desire to see it is ... "just do it" ... just do whatever you have to do to make it happen ... you will never regret it ... it is an amazing place. "Just do it".

Team Mowbray Update #21
Friday 11 April 2008
Position: The bloody office!!!! How did this happen?
Wind: Oh how I long for a calm, mirror image day in the Patagonian fjords!!
Air Temp: Not quite shorts and t-shirt weather, but close!!!

Hey everyone, the last Patagonian trip and the 07/08 program of expeditions is done and dusted and I am back in the office ... great, I just love paperwork ... not!!!

When I last wrote I was about to head back to South America to finish off the last trip to the fjords and glaciers and, in part, this is what I said at the time ...

"a 16 day trip taking in Cape Horn, Puerto Williams and the incredible fjords and glaciers just west of Ushuaia ... anchored up every night ... a couple of quiet drinks ... stimulating conversation ... laughter ... story telling ... jokes ... contemplation ... fresh hot bread from the oven ... some picturesque sailing ... the magic that is Cape Horn"

Well, as always, it was all of the above and then some!!! What a great trip!!!

You know, if I tell someone that we take people sailing to "Antarctica" then they are immediately able to form a mental image of what it might be like, what they might see or how it might affect them or whatever.

However, if I insert the word "Patagonia" in lieu of "Antarctica" then they are not as readily able to conjure a definitive mental image ... and what a shame ... the glaciers and fjords are just incomparable and offer all of the experiences as mentioned above in italics and then some. It seriously is so good that words just simply don't do it justice ... peace, serenity, unique wildlife all abound along with unbelievable anchorages, hiking and photographic opportunities at every turn ... it just goes on and on. If you want to know more about experiencing Patagonia aboard "Commitment" then please contact us ... it is an astonishing place and should you decide to come for a "look see" you will not be disappointed ...

Our new program of trips for 08/09 will be sent to you soon but suffice to say at this point that next summer we have Patagonian trips happening from early November 2008 onwards ...

Our first trip in particular is an 11 day trip kicking off on 24th November with just 3 berths left ...

How many people on their death bed say, "I wish I had spent more time at the office"?

"A picture is worth a thousand words" ... as the saying goes. Well have a go at the attached photos of the last trip ...

ANDEAN WOLF ... on the shore at Caleta Olla ... not many people get to see one of these magnificent animals ... especially trying to chew through your mooring lines!!!

DINNER TIME ... the evidence of good times all round

BAR-B-QUE TIME ... more evidence of the above ... check out the whole lamb ... he's the only one not having a good time!

ROBERT KAYAKING ... remember Robert from Wales who swam in Antarctica last January? Well, he came back for more fun.

SENO PIA EAST ARM ... we always visit here ... check out the serenity and the enormity of the glacier

SENO PIA WEST ARM ... we picked our way through the ice ... right to the glacier face ... stopped the engine ... the boat sat motionless ... lunch on the aft deck ... just another tough day at the office

ANOTHER WORLD ... untouched and unspoilt

REFLECTIONS AT THE GLACIER FACE ... Robert up close and personal with a glacier

WATERFALL ... you too can be here

Pretty good huh?

Keep an eye out for the 08/09 program ... coming to an e-mail near you shortly!

Have fun everyone 'cos we will ... paperwork!!! Aargggggggggggggh!!!!

Take care,

Tony
