Trans-Tasman Solo Yacht Race

Starting at Port Taranaki, New Zealand on May 26th, Tony will sail his world renowned Kennards Hire Solo Globe Challenger "SAL" some 1283 nautical miles to Mooloolaba, Queensland.

Held every four years since 1968, the Solo-Trans Tasman requires that all entrants complete a solo passage of at least 500 nautical miles in preparation. And with Solo Globe Challenge 2000 under his belt, Tony is ready to take on the field of Australian and New Zealand contenders.

With the opportunity to compete in this prestigious event only up for grabs every four years, Tony is keen to succeed.

I've dreamt, thought and talked about it for the last 25 years ..... now it is time to ACT and DO IT!!!

Tony is already aboard Sal, making his way to New Plymouth in preparation for the main event. Joining Tony is a crew of four; Tony Wrightson, Robyn Chesworth, Ben Herrington and George Lawson.
